Create adorable cow-shaped sugar cookies with black spots using this recipe. Perfect for animal-themed parties and cute dessert platters.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Black food coloring gel
  • White fondant
  • Edible black marker

Instructions:

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt

In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms

Divide the dough into two portions

Add black food coloring gel to one portion and knead until color is even

Shape both portions into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour

Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper

Roll out the white dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut out cow shapes using a cookie cutter

Roll out the black dough and cut out cow spots using a smaller round cutter or freehand

Place the black spots onto the white cow shapes, gently pressing to adhere

Place the cow cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely

Roll out white fondant and cut out small circles for the cows eyes

Attach the fondant eyes to the cow cookies using a dab of water

Use the edible black marker to draw on the cows nostrils and mouth

Allow the markers to dry before serving or storing
