Turkey Bacon Dogs with Texas Caviar Burger

This unique burger combines the smoky flavors of turkey bacon-wrapped hot dogs with the freshness and zest of Texas Caviar. Its a delightful fusion that will satisfy your burger cravings in a whole new way

Ingredients:

  • 4 turkey bacon-wrapped hot dogs
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 cup canned black-eyed peas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup corn kernels fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Mayonnaise and mustard for topping

Instructions:

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat

Wrap each turkey dog with a strip of bacon, securing with toothpicks

In a large bowl, combine the black-eyed peas, corn, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, red onion, cilantro, and minced garlic

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, cumin, salt, and pepper

Pour the dressing over the bean and vegetable mixture and toss to combine

This is your Texas Caviar topping

Grill the bacon-wrapped turkey dogs on the preheated grill, turning occasionally, until the bacon is crispy and the turkey dogs are cooked through about 8-10 minutes

During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each turkey dog and close the grill lid to melt the cheese

While the turkey dogs are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill until they are lightly browned

To assemble the burgers, spread mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom half of each bun

Place a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice on top of the condiments

Add a turkey bacon-wrapped hot dog with melted cheddar on top of the tomato slice

Top with a generous scoop of the Texas Caviar mixture

Finish by placing the other half of the toasted bun on top
