Ingredients:
- 1 bottle Karlo Estates Cabernet Franc 2015 91 pts
- 8 oz filet mignon
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1/4 cup red wine use the Cabernet Franc 2015
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions:
Get the oven ready by heating it up to 400F 200C
On both sides, season the filet mignon with salt and pepper
A skillet that can go in the oven should have olive oil in it
Grill the filet mignon for two to three minutes on each side, or until it turns brown
Put the skillet in the oven and cook the filet mignon for 5 to 7 minutes, or until its done the way you like it
Take the skillet out of the oven and put the filet mignon on a plate
Take a break
Put minced garlic and sliced mushrooms in the same pan
For about 5 minutes, cook until the mushrooms are soft
Use red wine to clean out the pan and scrape up any browned bits on the bottom
Add the butter and thyme and stir until the butter melts
Add the beef broth and let it cook for about 5 minutes, or until its almost half gone
Add the heavy cream and stir it in
Simmer for two more minutes
Put the mushroom sauce on top of the filet mignon and serve
A glass of Karlo Estates Cabernet Franc 2015 goes well with it
