Grilled Stick Bread Burger

Glasgow Encounters

These grilled stick bread burgers are a tasty take on the classic burger and are great for a summer barbecue. Each bite is made better by the unique crunch of the stick bread.

Ingredients:

  • 4 stick bread rolls
  • 4 beef burger patties
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat

Season the burger patties with salt and pepper

Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer them more well-done

During the last minute of grilling, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese

While the patties are grilling, cut the stick bread rolls in half lengthwise, but not all the way through, so they open like a book

Toast the stick bread on the grill until lightly browned

Spread mayonnaise on one side of the stick bread and ketchup on the other side

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each stick bread

Add a cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top of the lettuce

Top the patty with sliced red onion and tomato slices

Close the stick bread, securing the burger ingredients inside

Serve your grilled stick bread burgers hot and enjoy
